In this two day training, we will take a pause from our daily practice and reflect on how we can take care of ourselves as therapists in order to work in a sustainable fashion. In order to do this, we will use the metaphor of Rock and Water, to elements that are present in how we relate to ourselves, our work and others. Rock represents firmness and feeling grounded. Water represents our ability to adapt, to relate and to flow. We will work in movement, drawing, writing and verbal sharing with the following themes:
- The life cycle of the therapist; different stages in our professional life
- Bodywork; how to stay grounded and respect your own boundaries
- Trauma and the body
- The pendulum of becoming over or under involved
- Having a systemic view of what is going on in the therapeutic relationship and with our profession
- Just doodling; the creative process and play as burnout prevention
- Keeping the peace within oneself; using management of time and space to stay balanced
- Roles and rituals of the therapist
- Are we working with patients or clients: the business side of dance movement therapy
- A culture of care; investing in relationships and feeling embedded
- Roca & Agua technique is a psycho-educational approach that combines fun, creativity and learning. It is certified in the Netherlands and has already been deployed in more than 30 countries where it helps schools create a safer school climate. In this program, children and adults learn and practice techniques to prevent bullying situations. Exercises and games with movement and role-playing alternate with moments of reflection and discussion. Dynamics and games, which pass through the body, focus on developing assertiveness and a sense of security (Roca) and the ability and flexibility to cooperate and play together with respect for others (Agua).
